On this warm summer day, Serena leaned on the rail, staring at her friend Molly like she had done for
the past hour or so. It felt like hours since Molly kneeled down in front of one
of the gravestones, but Serena didn't blame her for doing just that. Molly was
looking at the gravestone that said Maxfield Stanton, but they both knew it
actually belonged to Nephrite. It's been three years since that very sad day,
when Molly screamed into the starry night as her beloved Nephrite was taken from
her. Serena remembered it like it was yesterday. She was there as Sailor Moon.
While Molly feels better and has been back to her usual self since then, the
painful memory stirs up in her mind again each year that passes since his death.
As Serena continues to watch over Molly, her new boyfriend, Melvin, suddenly
comes walking up.
"Hey, Serena!" Melvin said.
"Hi, Melvin..." Serena said. The boy adjusted his glasses as he looked down at
Molly still sitting by the grave.
"Huh? Molly's still at that grave, huh? She really does miss Mr. Stanton,
doesn't she?" Melvin said. Serena just sighed.
"Yes, of course. She really loved that man." Serena said.
"What do you think we should do to cheer her up this year? Last year that movie
made her pretty happy..." Melvin said. Serena just rolled her eyes, she knew
Molly was only pretending to like Revenge of the Japanese Nerds on that day.
"Oh, she's coming." Serena said. Indeed, she looked down and saw Molly had stood
up and was making her way up the nearby stairs. She had a smile on her face.
"Okay, guys. Thanks for being so patient with me." Molly said.
"Hey, anything for our very best friend!" Serena said.
"And anything for my sweet beloved redhead!" Melvin said with a smile on his
face.
"Come on, we should head to the Game Center. Y'know, to see what Andrew is
doing." Molly said.
"Maybe I can finally beat Amy's high score in Sailor V this time!" Melvin said.
"You say that every single time!" Serena said.
"Well, let's go." Molly said as the three teenagers all left the cemetery to
head for the arcade center.
Hours pass, and after everyone had a good time, it was time for everyone to go
home. With the sun setting giving the sky a bright orange glow, Serena walked
alongside Molly as they both approached the OSAP store, where Molly lived.
"I'm glad you had a good time today, Molly." Serena said.
"Yes... seeing Melvin as goofy as he was definitely brightened my day." Molly
said. But then the girl slowed down her walk.
"Molly... I, I know what you're thinking." Serena said.
"Yes, I know there's no hiding it from you. I really miss him, Serena." Molly
said.
"I know. I wish there was someway we could bring him back." Serena said.
"No, that wouldn't be fair to anyone. Not even you or Melvin. He's gone... and
I, well, I just have to accept that." Molly said. It was right then and there
that Molly started to shed a tear or two.
"But that doesn't mean I loved him to the very end. I'll never forget his last
words... don't forget me. And I promised I would do just that." Molly said.
"Don't worry, Molly. I'm sure he's watching you from up above. And remember that
we're here to care for you if you need it." Serena said.
"Thanks, Serena." Molly said with a smile. After knocking on the front doors,
Molly and Serena were greeted by Molly's mother, Mrs. Baker.
"Oh, welcome home, Molly!" Mrs. Baker shouted as she gave her daughter a hug.
"Yes, Mama, I'm home." Molly said.
"Oh, I knew you'd come home safe, especially with Serena by your side." Mrs.
Baker said.
"Well, you know me, you can always rely on me for being so dependable!
Hahahaha!" Serena said.
"Serena, would you like to stay and have dinner with us?" Molly asked.
"Oh, I'd love to, but my parents are cooking tonight and they get kinda cranky
when I'm not home to eat their cooking. So gotta run! Bye, Molly!" Serena said
as she ran off.
"Hoho! That Serena... it's no wonder you two are such great friends." Mrs. Baker
said.
"I know, Mama." Molly said with a smile.
Fast forward to late night, and it was time for Molly to go to bed. Just after
she changed into her cyan-colored pajamas, her mother came walking into her
room.
"Oh, Molly, I'm needed in Kyoto to plug a new line of jewelry for OSAP, so I'll
be gone for a few days." Mrs. Baker said.
"It's okay, Mama. I understand." Molly said.
"Yes, I know you do, and I know you'll be okay, but still, please call me if you
ever need my help." Molly said.
"Okay, Mama!" Molly said.
"I love you, Molly. I'll see you soon." Mrs. Baker said. She walked over and
gave her daughter a kiss on the forehead before turning around and leaving.
"Mama is always working hard and traveling around the country, but it's for the
sake of the family." Molly said.
As Molly started to tuck herself into bed, she suddenly remembered visiting
Nephrite's grave earlier that day, and that's when she got down on her knees,
with her arms on the bed, and prayed.
"Oh heavenly stars... if you can hear me, I make the same wish I make on this
very day every year since that tragic day. I pray that you are watching over
Nephrite and keeping him in good spirits and helping to keep him in my heart.
But... but I only wish that I could see him again, even for only one night. I
want to tell him how much I love him and how much I miss him. I know this is too
much to ask, so if you cannot do it, then at least pass my loving words to his
spirit." Molly said. Having said all that, Molly tucked herself into bed and
turned out the nearby nightlight, slowly drifting to sleep.
Hours later, Molly is asleep with her head turned towards the nightstand. While
she slept tight in her bed, a bright light formed on her nightstand. The light
faded out, and standing in place of the light? That's right, it was Nephrite.
Nephrite, dressed up casually like Maxfield Stanton normally does, looked
around. He wondered what just happened.
"Huh? Where am I?" Nephrite said. It was when he looked past the nightstand and
onto the bed where he saw Molly. It wasn't completely dark in the room thanks to
the moonlight shining through. But something was very different about her.
"She's... she's so big. No, no human could possibly be so big. I had to have
shrunken." Nephrite said. Indeed, he looked at his immediate surroundings. The
giant digital clock was the tell tale sign that Nephrite was not his normal
size. He guessed he was somewhere between 3 and 4 inches tall.
"This must be the price the spirits said I had to pay to see Molly again. No
matter, my prayers were answered and that's all that matters." Nephrite said.
Yes, Nephrite had ascended into the heavens after dying a most unpleasent death
by Queen Beryl's creatures. Perhaps it was his last-minute change of heart from
bad to good, having loving feelings for Molly to the very end, that allowed him
to live a better afterlife. He doesn't know how, but he was happy to be living a
life of peace, free from the shackles of the Negaverse.
But he still wished to see Molly again, telling her of his true feelings. He
pleaded for years to his spiritual guardians, and it wasn't until recently when
his request was finally granted. Although they did warn him of several catches,
and the size alteration was not one of them. The other catches? He hated to
think about them and chose to keep them secret for now.
Especially when he saw the giant Molly stirring her head slowly. This was his
chance to speak out.
"Molly..." Nephrite said softly. After saying her name a couple more times,
Molly finally opened her eyes. Slowly of course having been asleep for so long.
"Oh... what a dream. I could've sworn I heard Nephrite's voice in the end,
though." Molly said. She slowly got up, her knees still on her bed.
"Molly..." Nephrite said again.
"Huh? I'm still hearing it..." Molly said.
"Molly, I'm down here. On this table." Nephrite said. Molly followed the voice
and did as was told. She looked down on the nightstand and, thanks to the bright
moonlight, got her first glimpse at the miniature Nephrite.
"N...Nephrite?" Molly said as she rubbed her eyes and focused in on the table.
"Yes, Molly. It's me. I have returned, at least for a short while." Nephrite
said. Molly got closer and closer to the nightstand, Nephrite watching as her
face loomed over him.
"Nephrite? Is that... is that you?" Molly said. Nephrite nodded.
"No... I must still be dreaming. You're not that small normally." Molly said.
"This is no dream, Molly. I really am this small. It's a condition I am forced
to meet in order to see you again." Nephrite said.
"A condition?" Molly asked.
"Allow me to prove this is no dream." Nephrite said. He then jumped onto Molly's
bed, landing close to one of her hands.
That's when Nephrite gently pinched Molly by squeezing as much skin as he could
grab on her hand. Nephrite stopped when Molly pulled her hand back.
"Ow!" Molly said.
"Am I still here?" Nephrite asked, with a smile on her face. Molly looked... and
indeed, the tiny Nephrite was still on her bed.
"It... it really is you. But... but how? I saw you die right in front of me...!"
Molly said.
"Yes, Molly. I did die. But because of our love and the desire to see each other
again, I ascended into the heavens. It took me three years, but the spirits
allowed me to visit you at least for a short while." Nephrite said.
"I... I can't believe it. You've come back to see me..." Molly said. She wiped
away a tear or two that trickled down from her eyes.
"Those are tears of happiness I sense in you." Nephrite said.
"Well, yes! I didn't think I would ever see you again. I never forgot about you.
I visit your grave every year." Molly said.
"Ah, yes. Maxfield Stanton's grave. What a foolish thing I did back then."
Nephrite said.
"No, don't feel that way. You had a secret identity to keep, right? You didn't
want this... this, evil society to see you roaming around our world, right?"
Molly said.
"Yes, I support you are right." Nephrite said.
"Can I... can I touch you? Are you a ghost if you're coming from the afterlife?"
Molly asked.
"Why don't you pick me up and see for yourself?" Nephrite said.
Molly gently wrapped her hand (the one Nephrite tried to pinch earlier) around
Nephrite and slowly lifted him up to her face.
"You're... you feel so real. Like a normal human being..." Molly said.
"I'm relieved. Feeling your soft touch is bringing heartwarming thoughts to my
mind." Nephrite said.
"But... aren't you scared of being so small? Aren't you afraid I might crush you
or something like that?" Molly asked. Nephrite shook his head.
"Not when I am in your hands." Nephrite said.
"Oh, Nephrite..." Molly said. Finally she leaned forward and was ready to plant
her lips over as much of Nephrite's tiny body as she could.
But before she could do that, she noticed Nephrite's body start to fade out.
"Nephrite, you're fading!" Molly said.
"Oh... it appears my time in your world for today has run out. But don't worry,
I shall return." Nephrite said.
"Wait! Nephrite!" Molly shouted... but Nephrite disappeared like a ghost.
It all happened like a blur to Molly. She was startled to see Nephrite making a
return, albeit in a literally smaller role. He disappeared almost as quickly as
he arrived, but she remembered seeing a smile briefly on his face as he
disappeared. Was he really going to return? When would that return be exactly?
Or was this the most elaborate dream she ever dreamed about? She pinched herself
again.
"Ow!" Molly said. Nothing changed. Molly laid down flat on her back in her bed,
spending the rest of the night wondering about the little Nephrite all the way
until she drifted back to sleep.
Molly slowly got up from bed and changed into another one of her summer
outfits. As she was changing, she once again stared down at her nightstand where
she had seen the tiny Nephrite. He still wasn't there.
"Maybe it was a dream... or maybe not? I just don't know." Molly said to
herself. But she would have to shake it off for now, for she was expecting to
meet Serena outside her home.
Molly left her room and went downstairs, making her way through the crowd
that was building up inside OSAP. Molly finally made it outside and saw Serena
(in a summer outfit of her own) standing there.
"Good morning, Serena!" Molly said.
"Good morning, Molly. It looks like you have another big crowd." Serena said.
"Yes, I just hope Mother's associates can handle all that traffic." Molly said
with a smile.
"Oh, is she out of town again?" Serena asked.
"Yes, but only for about three days." Molly said.
"Well, come on! There's this new game at Andrew's arcade I want to play!" Serena
said.
"Okay, okay!" Molly said.
As the two were walking down the street anxious to arrive at their
destination, Molly felt the time was now to share her 'dream' from last night.
"Serena? What did you dream about last night?" Molly said.
"Huh? Oh, the usual. Just me and Darien dancing the beautiful night away, and
we're both wearing such gorgeous outfits too." Serena said, blushing a little
bit from thinking about that dream.
"I see. Your dreams are always fascinating." Molly said.
"So what about you?" Serena asked.
"Well... it's kinda strange. I was dreaming I was awake in the middle of the
night... and I saw Nephrite standing on my nightstand." Molly said. Serena
stopped her walk for a bit upon hearing that name.
"Wait, Nephrite? On your nightstand?" Serena said.
"Yes. I know it sounds strange, but he really was standing on the nightstand. He
was really small, as if that cousin of yours hit him with a shrink ray." Molly
said, referring of course to Rini.
"Really small, huh?" Serena asked.
"The thing is... I'm not so sure this was a dream. It might have been real. I
pinched myself a couple times, and he was still there." Molly said.
"Hmmm... strange, isn't it?" Serena said.
"Yes... but he did say he would return. I don't know when... he disappeared
before he could say anymore." Molly said.
"Well, knowing how much you loved him, I wouldn't doubt that." Serena said.
"I think he truly missed me as much as I missed him, and that's why he has come
back." Molly said with a smile beaming on her face. Serena didn't say much more,
not wanting to relive the painful memory that she and Molly both experienced
back then. The happy look on Molly's face was enough for Serena to put a smile
on her own face.
"Oh, look! We're here." Serena said as she pointed up to the arcade. The two
went inside.
Hours later, Serena and Molly were walking to OSAP after spending quite a bit
of time playing games, UFO catchers, and eating triple thick chocolate shakes
(despite Amy cautioning Serena on how many calories the shakes had).
"I appreciate you spending a little time with me, Serena." Molly said.
"Hey, that's what friends are for, right? I can't stay for longer than 30
minutes though. I gotta watch over Luna while my parents and Sammy go out
again." Serena said.
"They sure do like to go out a lot, don't they?" Molly asked.
"Well, what are you going to do?" Serena said.
Finally, the two girls walked through the busy main floor of OSAP, where many
women were shopping around for jewelry. They went upstairs and Molly opened the
door to her bedroom.
It was looking on that nightstand that Molly gasped. The shrunken Nephrite
was back, standing up with hands in his pockets.
"Welcome back, Molly. I've been waiting for you." Nephrite said.
"N-N-Nephrite? You're back already?" Molly said.
"Oh my gosh!" Serena shouted as she got her first look at the tiny Nephrite.
"Yes, Molly. I said I would return and here I am. I was hoping it would be
tonight but this is what the spirits would allow." Nephrite said. Both girls,
Molly in particular, approached the nightstand where Nephrite was standing.
"I guess it's no dream... you really are back!" Molly said.
"I wonder what caused this..." Serena said.
"I told you, Serena! It's our love for each other! It's so powerful it has
allowed him to come back to life!" Molly said.
"I am happy that you are happy, Molly. At least for now, for there is something
important..." Nephrite said, only to be interrupted by Molly.
"Oh, you must be starving, Nephrite. Wait here, I'll get some cookies from the
kitchen." Molly said as she turned around and left her bedroom.
That left the tiny Nephrite with the normal-sized Serena. Nephrite did his
best to strike a conversation with his former enemy.
"So, Sailor Moon... I'm glad we can meet again under more peaceful terms."
Nephrite said. Serena, not surprised that Nephrite called her Sailor Moon since
he did witness her transformation near his death, could sense the awkwardness in
his voice. He was probably scared seeing her so big, but she was determined to
find out what was really going on.
So Serena marched up to the nightstand and placed both hands on it, surrounding
Nephrite with them and looming over the former villain.
"Alright, Nephrite. What's your scheme? You better tell me because I'm not
afraid to crush you like the little bug you are!" Serena said.
"You can rest easy. My intentions are as admirable as Molly will tell you. Ever
since my passing, I have longed to see her again... thanking her for helping
change my heart." Nephrite said.
"Oh, okay..." Serena said, still not completely sure what to believe.
"Still, you are the superheroine protecting her. Do with me as you will."
Nephrite said.
"Okay, okay, I understand you. Still, I keep thinking about that day..." Serena
said. Nephrite smiled and in fact patted one of her large fingers.
"You couldn't do anything different to save me. The Negaverse would've hunted me
down the rest of my miserable life." Nephrite said.
"Well... at least you don't have to worry about the Negaverse anymore." Serena
said, smiling for a little bit. Nephrite smiled as well.
"I expected nothing less from a champion of love and justice." Nephrite said.
Finally, Molly returned holding a couple plates of cookies.
"Okay, I'm back!" Molly shouted. Serena turned around and looked at Molly and
then the cookies on the plates.
"Mmmmm! I see some chocolate chips!" Serena shouted.
"Of course. I made sure Mother made a batch just for you." Molly said. She let
Serena take one of the plates, who promptly sat down on Molly's bed and started
scarfing down on the cookies. Molly of course was much more gentle. First she
sat down on her bed and placed the cookies in front of her crossed legs. Then
she reached over towards her nightstand and gently grabbed Nephrite and set him
on her lap.
"Huh? I thought he was a ghost and that you couldn't grab him..." Serena said.
"Well, he's quite real, alright. Want a cookie, Nephrite?" Molly said.
"There is a first time for everything." Nephrite said as he opened his mouth as
wide as he could. He took a small bite from the cookie, given his tiny size, but
he seemed to enjoy it.
"Do you like it?" Molly asked.
"I think this a wonderful item of food you have made." Nephrite said.
"Well... I didn't make them. They were actually made by my Mother." Molly said.
"Ah, but still, a job well done." Nephrite said. He then looked over and saw
Serena seemingly throwing cookie after cookie into her mouth.
"I'm just glad I'm not standing near Serena's plate." Nephrite said.
"Huh? What's that supposed to mean?" Serena said. Molly and Nephrite couldn't
help but laugh over that remark.
But a few minutes later, the fun was about to end for the second day, as
Nephrite started to fade out once again.
"Oh! Nephrite, you're fading!" Molly said.
"Yes... my time has come. But fear not, I will appear on another day..."
Nephrite said, before he faded out completely.
"Nephrite! Wait!" Molly shouted. Serena saw Nephrite disappear as well.
"Do you think he will come back?" Serena said.
"Yes, I know he will, because he loves me and I love him... with all my heart."
Molly said.
"But what about Melvin? What's he going to say?" Serena said.
"Nephrite is only... what? Three inches tall? He's not going to be jealous."
Molly said. She and Serena just nodded and got back to eating their cookies and
talking about the good times that she and Nephrite shared when he was still
alive.
Molly meanwhile was already anxiously awaiting the next time she would see little Nephrite. Little did she know that next time would wind up being their last visit together.
That very same night, Molly was getting herself ready for bed having already slipped into her pajamas. For the rest of the day, particularly after Serena had gone home, she thought of what she would do with Nephrite the next time they got together. With that long a time span, many thoughts entered her head, and the longer time passed, the more intimate her ideas started to get. And they were really getting intimate... all because her mom wasn't around to watch over her.
Molly's train of thought had to come to a stop when she looked down and saw
Nephrite suddenly appear on her nightstand. Molly immediately got in a happy
mood.
"Oh, Nephrite! I'm glad you came back so soon!" Molly said. Nephrite, on the
other hand, didn't look so happy. He had a rather sad look on his face. He knew
the news he wanted to break to Molly would not be taken well by the giant girl.
"Molly, I have..." Nephrite said, but he was cut off by the energetic Molly.
"Nephrite... I'm so glad you came tonight. I think it's time we took our
relationship to where we never could." Molly said.
"Never could?" Nephrite asked. And then the moment came that surprised Nephrite
more than Molly herself. Molly began to unbutton her shirt... doing so while
getting as close as she could to the nightstand and keeping a happy smile on her
face. Nephrite started to sweat a little from watching this play out.
"Molly... what are you doing?" Nephrite said. But Molly didn't say anything.
Instead, after undoing all the buttons on her shirt but not yet taking it off,
she pulled her pants down revealing her underwear. Despite that, plus the fact
Molly still had a bra on, it left Nephrite extremely uncomfortable. He tried
looking away, but failed at doing this and was forced to lay eyes on the nearly
undressed girl. It didn't get any better when Molly was taking her shirt off,
leaving her in just her bra and underwear. Fortunately, Molly stopped her
stripping right then and there.
"So, my little Nephrite, what do you think?" Molly asked. Nephrite didn't dare
try to object to Molly's choice (or lack to be precise) of wardrobe. One wrong
sentence could easily get him hurt given the size advantage that Molly had.
"It's, um... nice, to say the least." Nephrite said, wiping the sweat from his
forehead.
"You know, you should see the way I dance in this outfit. I only do it when I'm
all alone." Molly said. Nephrite watched as the giant girl walked away from the
nightstand and went over to a nearby desk, where she turned on what appeared to
be the CD player. Suddenly some slow and soft music, the kind that makes most
people stare at an imaginary futuristic sky which will help them fall asleep,
played throughout Molly's room. And as soon as it did, Molly slowly made her way
back towards Nephrite on the nightstand. Once she made it back, that's when she
broke into a slow dance. It looked more like a belly dance as she swayed her
hips in every direction possible, moving her arms all around at the same time.
Molly couldn't see it because of her dancing, but Nephrite was blushing. He
didn't know what to think seeing Molly like this. It didn't help that he had
very important news to deliver fast. But Nephrite had to hold on for life now as
Molly wrapped a hand around him and held him in the air. Molly continued her
sexy dance, now with Nephrite clutched to her chest. This went on for a couple
minutes, but it seemed like forever with Nephrite pressed against Molly's warm
skin.
Molly then laid down flat on her back on her bed, placing Nephrite on her
stomach.
"How do you feel, my little Nephrite?" Molly said, still a smile beaming on her
face.
"Molly... please... listen to me!" Nephrite said.
"Go ahead... move lower." Molly said. Nephrite awkwardly stepped backwards,
eventually turning around and seeing her underwear. But to make matters more
feverish for Nephrite, he could see some of Molly's big fingers moving towards
the sides of her underwear. And that underwear was making its way down Molly's
legs at a snail's pace.
The underwear only went a couple inches when Nephrite had seen enough. Not
this girl, not at the age she was at.
"Molly! STOP!" Nephrite shouted as loud as he could. Molly picked up on that and
stopped moving her hands.
"What's wrong? Isn't this what you've always wanted?" Molly asked.
"Molly, you know I love you more than anything else in all the worlds, real life
and spiritual. But..." Nephrite said.
"Yes?" Molly said.
"Molly... after tonight, I can no longer see you." Nephrite said.
It was like the wind came out of Molly's sails. Did he just say what he did?
"You're... you're breaking up with me?" Molly asked. Suddenly the smile went
away on her face. She leaned forward to get a closer look at Nephrite, causing
him to trip down to between her legs.
"It's not that... the spiritual world says I cannot come here anymore. Not
without sacrificing both our worlds." Nephrite said.
"But... you have special powers. You can do whatever you want!" Molly said.
"I cannot defy those that control me in the spirit world, and you know that."
Nephrite said. Molly suddenly was feeling angry. It was building up quickly.
"Sure... sure, I get it. Like you couldn't control that crazy woman who killed
you!" Molly said.
"It was a sneak attack!" Nephrite said.
"You could've saved yourself! I could've saved you!!" Molly
shouted.
"Molly, please. You're not thinking rationally here..." Nephrite said. He knew
this was going bad and that Molly's feelings were taking control of her.
And that's when Molly took a swing with her hand and slapped Nephrite back a
good foot or two on her bed. When Nephrite got back on his feet, he could see
the anguish on Molly's face. She was simultaneously angry and sad, tears coming
out her eyes and her brows pointing down which clearly indicated a fit of rage.
"Just go, Nephrite!" Molly shouted.
"But Molly..." Nephrite said.
"GET THE FUCK OUT!!!" Molly screamed. Nephrite knew he couldn't correct this
mess. Not now, anyway. So he slowly faded out of sight, much like the past
couple times. Molly had started to pull the covers over herself to get back to
sleep, but it was that lasting image of Nephrite fading out that got to her.
"What... what have I done? Oh, Nephrite! Nephrite, please forgive me!!!" Molly
shouted as she buried her head in her pillows and let the tears come flying out.
Nephrite could see the raw emotion coming out of Molly even as a ghost. He
had just left a mark on the young girl that he would never rest easy with. He
might as well be sent to hell if this was how it was going to end. But he
suddenly had an idea.
"Serena..." Nephrite said to himself. Knowing he was running out of time allowed
to be a part of the real world, he quickly felt himself floating into the sky,
doing his best to head for Serena's home.
Serena herself was getting ready for bed, already in her pink pajamas and
pulling the covers back. She was also talking with her purple cat, Luna, about
Nephrite.
"Is the afterlife really that potent, Luna? Allowing someone like Nephrite to
exist in our world all because he never stopped thinking about Molly?" Serena
said.
"I don't know, Serena. The afterlife is something I've never seen and can't
possibly see. Maybe Nephrite is a special exception because he reformed before
his death." Luna said.
"Or maybe because the Negaverse is gone, his soul is allowed to travel freely?
Maybe I should ask Amy... I mean, she does know everything!" Serena said.
"Including the paranormal?" Luna asked.
Just then, both Serena and Luna could hear a tapping sound coming from the
window nearby.
"Is that a burglar?" Luna said. Serena went over and opened the curtains that
obscured the window. Right away, she noticed the three-inch-tall Nephrite
tapping away on the other side of the window.
"That's Nephrite!" Serena said.
"What's he doing here?" Luna asked.
"Hopefully not looking for a date." Serena said. She carefully opened up the
window.
Nephrite stepped to the side to keep from getting hit by the opening window.
Once one side was open, Nephrite walked inside and landed on Serena's desk.
"Serena, thank goodness." Nephrite said.
"Nephrite? What are you doing here?" Serena asked.
"Listen, I need your help. I don't have much time left." Nephrite said.
"Huh? Why not?" Serena asked.
"Well... the spirit world is calling be back after tonight. It could be any
minute, but once I disappear, I can never come back to this world." Nephrite
said.
"Oh... then that means..." Serena said.
"Yes. I broke the news to Molly, but she got really upset." Nephrite said.
"Hmmm... but what can I do?" Serena said.
"Please, Sailor Moon. I ask this as my last favor to you. Talk to her
somehow..." Nephrite said.
"Okay. I have an idea." Serena said. She gently picked up Nephrite and started
to walk out of her bedroom.
"Serena? What are you going to do?" Luna asked.
"Just make sure Molly says goodbye." Serena said. She left her home (just
putting on shoes and keeping her pajamas on) and began the long walk to Molly's
home in OSAP.
Serena eventually made it to OSAP. Although it was closed, the security guard
standing inside recognized Serena and allowed her to go inside and see Molly.
After Serena went upstairs, she saw Molly (fortunately back in her pajamas)
sitting on her bed. Serena gently knocked on the open door, and Molly quickly
looked up and saw Serena standing there.
"Huh? Serena?" Molly said.
"Molly, I'm sorry I didn't call first... but it was urgent I got here as fast as
I could." Serena said.
"What is it?" Molly said. That's when Serena opened up her hands and revealed
the tiny Nephrite. Molly breathed a sigh of relief.
"Nephrite! Oh thank goodness." Molly said. She got up from the bed and picked up
the tiny man with her hands.
"Yes, I am glad to see you too, Molly." Nephrite said.
"It's okay, Molly. Nephrite told me everything." Serena said.
"Nephrite, I hope you can forgive me for my outburst earlier..." Molly said.
"It is completely understandable, being somebody who studied human emotions for
many years." Nephrite said.
"Still... I wish there was some way you could stay with me." Molly said.
"I do too, Molly, and maybe it will happen one day." Nephrite said.
And it was right then and there that Nephrite began to fade for the final
time.
"Look! He's fading!" Serena said.
"Nephrite! Please don't go!" Molly said.
"Molly... I'm so glad we could get together again. I promise I'll find a way to
return again..." Nephrite said.
"I know you will! I love you!" Molly shouted.
"I love you too..." Nephrite said before he disappeared once more.
It was still hard for Molly. The tears began to consume her again, but this
time there wasn't any anger to complement it. Still, Serena could sense the
emotional pain in her friend's eyes.
"Molly, I'm so sorry." Serena said.
"It's not fair, Serena... it's just not... *sob*" Molly said before she started
sobbing and therefore wasn't able to speak.
It was being her best friend that Serena stepped forward and hugged the tearful
Molly, letting the tears soak a part of her pink pajamas. Serena just hugged and
patted her friend while she continued to sob almost as much as back when
Nephrite was killed.
"I'm right here, Molly. It's going to be alright." Serena said. After a couple
minutes, Molly finally lifted her head up and wiped the tears out of her eyes
and the congestion from her nose.
"Serena... thank you for being there for me." Molly said.
"Anytime, Molly. We may be going to different schools now, but I'll always be
there for you." Serena said.
"I'll be fine now. I'm ready to move on." Molly said.
"Huh? Really?" Serena asked.
"I got to see him one final time, and that's what counts most." Molly said.
Serena just nodded. She was happy to see Molly so quickly over the shock of losing Nephrite once again. The two said good night to each other and Molly was able to get some sleep, with Serena making the journey back to her own home.
But what really closed the book on Molly's saga with Nephrite? The next morning, she left a few flowers in front of his grave, bowed her head in respect, and rejoined her friends as they continued with the rest of their day. In fact, Molly quickly and happily accepted Melvin's request to go on a date that night.
