It was another regular day in Tokyo. It was still early in the day, around
8:30 am, close to schools to begin their days. Traffic was already bustling,
choking the streets with vehicles as people headed out to work or shopping or
other activities.
In one particularly busy intersection, a police officer was directing traffic.
As he waved cars through one side, he began to feel faint, rythmic tremors in
the ground, nearly half a second apart, steadily getting stronger and louder. He
looked around, trying to determine just what was causing this, when he suddenly
noticed a flash of something enormous rush past behind some buildings down the
road. What he heard next made the officer freeze in terror;
"KYAAAAAAAAAAAA! I'M SO LATE! THEY'RE GONNA KILL ME!" The voice was so loud, the
windows on tall buildings at the end of the street shattered and rained down on
people below. To make matters worse, the source of that voice slid around the
corner at that very moment.
It was a girl, a schoolgirl, wearing the traditional white and blue school
uniform of Juuban Junior High School. White socks and black x-strap shoes
adorned her feet and she carried a student's briefcase in one hand. But the
thing that terrified the officer was that this girl, who everyone know as Serena
Tsukino, stood over 300 feet tall and was running at full speed down the street
straight towards him!
The officer froze for a moment while watching Serena's feet pound the street,
crushing cars and people underfoot instantly each time they impacted the ground,
before he dove for his police car parked nearby and got on the radio;
"Car 16 to all units!" the officer said frantically, "Be warned, Serena is late
to school again! Serena is . . . " a huge black shoe slammed down on top of the
police car as Serena entered the intersection. Her foot was there only for a
second before continuing down the street but in her wake, she left the police
car completely crushed in her footprint, blood trickling from where the door had
been.
-------------------------
People frantically ran for their lives, pressing themselves against the
buildings on either side of the street to avoid getting smushed as Serena
thundered past at blazing speed. She was on a mission and was determined to
arrive on time. She wasn't paying attention to her feet, she didn't have time to
look. Her eyes focused on the path ahead down the street. Far below, her shoes
pounded cars flat and kicked over street lights, traffic signals and power
lines.
"OUT OF THE WAY!" Serena shouted, not slowing even a little, "MOVE!" The road
ahead turned to the right and left but had a building straight ahead. Serena
turned slightly and skidded down the road into the intersection. Her feet
crashed into cars and trucks and threw them out of the way or smashed them into
buildings on either side of the road. Her slide went a little too far and Serena
slammed side first into the building ahead of her, demolishing the entire wall
of glass and leaving an large hole in the structure as she pushed off and
continued running down the street.
Up ahead, Serena could see the school on the other side of some low-lying
buildings. As she approached, Serena hopped only slightly, planted her feet, and
vaulted right over the buildings in a spectacular jump. Unfortunately, her
landing left a little to be desired. She hadn't seen it from behind the
buildings, but Serena noticed the fast food restaurant, at just the last second,
directly beneath her as she came down . . .
With an enormous crash, Serena slammed down on the restaurant's roof, both of
her shoes crashing through like it was made of cardboard. Every window in the
dining area shattered instantly, bits of roofing and walls exploded into pieces
and flew into the air. The restaurant had been slightly bigger then her shoes so
very little of it stuck out now and whatever survived was destroyed beyond any
hope of repair. But once again, Serena didn't stay long.
Serena took off running again, bits of restautant trailing off her shoes as she
stepped off it's ruined wreckage and took off down the street. She glanced at
her watch on her left wrist, just as her right foot crushed a city bus, causing
her to lose her balance. Serena stumbled back and forth down the road a bit
until she elbowed a large hotel building, breaking it in half and toppling the
upper section into the next street. Regaining her balance, Serena jogged the
last few blocks to school, finally slowing to a walk as she reached the gate.
She never looked behind her at the wake of destruction she had caused or the
clouds of black smoke now rising over the city . . . and right on time,
construction crews began appearing to fill in footprints and scrape crushed cars
off the road.
-------------------------
Several students outside gazed up in awe as Serena walked up and easily stepped
over the ankle-high wall surrounding the school grounds that separated the
school yard from the city streets. People all around were still reeling from the
experience of being knocked off their feet as Serena had thundered past.
Serena turned and walked around to the right side of the school, past the gym
and swimming pool, and around to the windows of her classroom. Somewhere inside
the school, her friends, Amy, Lita, and Mina were probably already in their
classes getting ready to study. They were never late like Serena but also
weren't in the same class as she was. Placing her house sized briefcase on the
ground, Serena sat down in the school yard and peered inside her classroom,
spying the clock on the wall.
"8:35 am." Serena breathed a sigh of relief, "I made it just in time." She had
run the 5 miles from home to school in just under 5 minutes, a feat that usually
took nearly 30 minutes in a bus through the crowded streets of Tokyo.
"Hey Serena!" it was Molly, shouting from her desk inside the classroom, "You
cut it really close today."
"I know, I got here as fast as I could." Serena said, leaning in closer to the
window until her face literally filled the view, "I can't believe I can
oversleep even at this size. I usually get so uncomfortable that I wake up on my
own."
"Sure," Molly said, "but only if you roll over onto someone's house or
something."
Serena rolled her eyes and was going to answer but stopped short as the
classroom door opened and Miss Haruna walked in. "Good morning class. I presume
everyone is here on time . . . " she looked up and spotted one empty desk, then
glanced at the windows and jumped slightly upon seeing Serena's blue eyes
filling the view. "Even Serena it seems, though I'll never get used to this. Do
you have your homework?"
"Umm, yes." she turned and opened her briefcase and pulled out a folder. As she
brought it around, she paused. "Uh, where should I put it?" It obviously wasn't
going to fit inside the window.
Miss Haruna paused for a second and motioned for Serena to just leave it
outside. Class proceeded as usual although on many occassions, Miss Haruna had
to stop and shout out the window to wake up the dozing Serena. Once, Serena woke
up with such a start that she nearly kicked a hole in the school as she fell
over backwards into the school yard.
-------------------------
After about three and a half hours, it was lunch time. As the students filed out
of the classroom to the cafeteria, Serena stood up and walked back around to the
front of the school. There, she found her lunch, provided by the city during her
period as a giantess. Ten box-trucks stood lined up, each full of varying foods
found in the cafeteria. The driver of each truck stood outside his vehicle at
attention, though they all flinched as Serena's black shoes walked up close and
she towered over them.
Bending over, Serena reached down and gently picked up the first truck, stood up
straight, and brought it up to her face. Opening the back doors, she lifted the
truck over her open mouth and consumed the entire load of food in one gulp.
Then, she carefully placed the truck on the ground at her feet, letting the
driver get back in and drive his slightly bent truck away, before picking up the
next truck to devour it's contents. Then the next, and the next, and the next.
With just two trucks left, Serena was surprised to see the pricipal approach
her. Covering his eyes as he looked up at Serena (because he was a modest man
not wanting to take advantage of Serena is a skirt), he shouted up at her;
"Miss Tsukino?!" he shouted.
Serena swallowed quickly and squatted down in front of the principal. Without
thinking, her open legs meant the pricipal got a wall of white panties in his
face before he spun around, his face red with embarassment.
"Hello there." Serena said sweetly, "What's up?"
"Umm, when you are finished, can you please come to my office?!" the pricipal
asked, still shaking slightly.
"Sure thing." Serena said, "I'll be there in a few minutes." She stood up and
went back to eating, leaving the stunned pricipal to slowly walk back inside.
-------------------------
A few minutes later, Serena finished her lunch and allowed the last
slightly-bent truck to depart the school to the repair shad in town; the
disadvantage of keeping the biggest girl in town from getting her own lunch by
devouring a restaurant, was constant body work on the trucks. Serena walked
around to the opposite side of the school from her classroom to the pricipal's
office which was, unfortunately for Serena, on the first floor.
So, as carefully as possible, Serena got down on her hands and knees and tapped
carefully on the pricipal's window. But as careful as she was, her index finger
effortlessly smashed right through the glass with a crash. Surprised, Serena
jumped and pulled her hand back. But in this slight movement, her foot also
jumped behind her and demolished a house outside the school wall, collapsing
over her shoe. Serena cringed at the sound but dared not look behind her.
Instead, Serena shrugged it off and looked through the hole in the pricipal's
wall. Inside, she not only saw the pricipal cringing at the sight of the hole,
but also the mayor of the city in the corner.
"Oh no." Serena thought to herself, "I'm in trouble now." She put her hand on
her head and stuck her tongue out in an apologetic way "I'm sorry, I'm just so
clumsy at this size I guess, haha . . . ha."
"Quite so." the pricipal said, "But actually, that's why we called you here
today. You were late today, right?"
"Um, actually I made it right on time today." Serena said proudly, "I got here
with no time to spare!"
"And how was your trip getting to school?" the mayor had spoken up from the
corner.
Serena's eyes got wide and she gulped. She recalled having seen the smoke during
lunch but didn't realize just how much damage she must've caused in her rush to
get to school. "Oh dear, I caused quite a lot of trouble again, didn't I?"
"Pretty much." the mayor said, "I know you mean well Miss Serena. You don't
intentionally destroy stuff like some other pink-haired giantess we've seen in
past years, thank goodness she disappeared recently . . ." Serena rolled her
eyes and giggled quietly, "but you caused over seventy thousand dollars of
damage this morning alone."
"What?!" Serena said, pretty stunned, "That much?"
"Maybe more." the mayor said, "Hundreds of vehicles crushed flat, a couple of
buildings smashed, and one restaurant leveled!" he gathered himself and changed
the subject, "How long have you been this big?"
"Only a few days at least." Serena said, "I woke up Monday morning and was like
this." The truth was, Serena had been fighting a monster Sunday night with the
Scouts and had been hit by some kind of strange attack that didn't seem to do
anything to her. The monster had been defeated and all seemed well. But it's
effects became apparent after Serena had woken up the following day (along with
her clothes and many of her possessions for some reason). "I'm told people are
still working to figure out what happened and how to reverse it."
"Yes, I understand that." the mayor said, "However, I'm sorry but that doesn't
excuse you from the mess you made today."
"Yes, sir." Serena said.
"When your classes are done, I'll expect you to report to the junkyard for your
community service, alright?" the mayor said.
Serena was reluctant but agreed, "Yes sir, I'll go."
"Good." the mayor said, "Thank you for your cooperation. I'll be sure to have a
police escort for you at 3pm. Don't leave the school grounds without them
clearing the path for you."
"You can go back to class now, Miss Tsukino." the pricipal said. Serena nodded,
stood up, and walked back around the school to her classroom windows, where she
rejoined their studies.
-------------------------
A few hours later, school was done for the day. Students began leaving, either
walking or climbing on buses just outside the gate. But poor Serena wasn't going
anywhere. She stood perfectly straight by the building, briefcase in hand in
front of her, waiting for her escort to arrive.
"Cheer up Serena!" a student shouted.
"Yeah, we know it's not your fault, things will work out!" another student
shouted.
"See you tomorrow, big or small!" another student said as he literally patted
Serena's shoe and ran off to his bus.
Serena couldn't help but smile and nearly cried but she managed to prevent it
when she remembered that crying might drown everyone around her in her tears.
She waved as the students left.
"Thank goodness they don't think I'm some kind of monster." Serena thought to
herself, "It's hard enough doing daily tasks normal size let alone as a
giantess."
Serena was startled out of her thoughts when she heard shouting at her feet.
Serena looked down past her skirt and saw Amy, Lita, and Mina waving up at her.
Overjoyed, Serena squatted down rapidly, nearly blowing her friends away with
the blast of air she pushed ahead of herself.
"Oops, sorry!" Serena said, lowering a hand to allow her friends to climb on.
She lifted them up to just above chest level and looked down at them.
"We heard what happened." Amy said, "Sorry to hear you were late."
"Actually, I wasn't late." Serena said, "I was right on time!"
"Yeah, only because you wrecked the city in the process." Mini jeered, "Nice
work with that by the way!"
"It was an accident." Serena said, "You know that!"
"We know." Lita said, "You were just in a hurry."
"We haven't seen you all day." Amy said, "Has it been hard to adjust?"
"It sure has." Serena said, "It's bad enough I'm clumsy at my regular size. But
at this size, just tripping I end up destroying three blocks when I fall on top
of them. Because of the mess I made this morning, I have to work at the junkyard
this afternoon."
"Eww, that's unfortunate." Mina said, "It's so dirty over there."
"Don't remind me." Serena groaned.
A police siren announced that Serena's escort had arrived. She looked down at
the entrance to see ten police cars had gathered on the street.
"That's my que to get going I suppose." Serena said. She carefully lowered her
friends to the ground and let then jump off her hand, "Guess I'll see you all
later."
"Good luck Serena." Amy said, "We'll get with Luna and Artemis to see if
anything can be done to get you back to normal size soon."
"Thanks Amy." Serena said. She stood up, turned around and walked to the street.
The police set up around her, two in front of her to lead the way, four to block
the streets ahead of her on either side, and four behind her, all with lights
and sirens.
-------------------------
This was easily the least fun Serena had ever had in her life. The junkyard was
miles away and the police weren't exactly going very fast. The entire way,
Serena now had to watch her feet so as not to step on anything or anyone,
especially not on her escorts. And of course, this time, anyone standing on the
sidewalks were just staying there, staring up at her. For once, Serena actually
felt awkward being a giantess.
Since when did a giantess get lead around by police cars? If anything, she
should've been leading them. For a brief moment, the thought of stomping her
escorts and running away came into her mind, but she brushed it away and thought
back to the nice things the students had said. Maybe it was best not to hurt her
image any more then she already had.
Traffic ahead was getting thicker and Serena's escorts were forced to pause,
meaning Serena had to stop short as well. As she stood there, waiting, thinking,
she was suddenly alerted to the ground by brief flashes of light. Upon closer
inspection, Serena discovered that it was indeed, an brave observer snapping
photos up her skirt. Serena huffed and glared down, causing the man to cower
back a bit.
"Really?" Serena said under her breath. She gave the man a gentle kick with her
foot and sent him sprawling, unhurt, back onto the sidewalk. Thankfully, the
traffic cleared up and the police started moving again. Serena, understandably,
followed just a little faster now.
-------------------------
It took nearly an hour but Serena was soon moving away from the tall buildings
of the city and into more open countryside. Her escorts stopped at a dirt road
and one officer got out with a bullhorn.
"This is your stop, ma'am." he said, "Follow this road to the junkyard. You are
to remain there until your tasks are completed, then go directly home."
"Yeah, ok, I got it." Serena said uncaringly. She stepped over the officer and
his car with her foot so close that the wind nearly knocked him over and she
almost kicked the police car. The officer grabbed him cap and braced himself,
but fell down anyway from Serena's foot impacting the ground nearby. He watched
Serena walk off down the road, shrugged, got back in his car and drove off with
the rest of the police cars.
Serena walked down the curvy dirt road, throwing up huge dust clouds with each
step and occassionally kicking over or crunching overhanging trees with her
feet. A few minutes later, she had the junkyard in sight and approached
cautiously.
-------------------------
Stepping over the old, short, wooden fence, Serena attracted the attention of
the person who ran the place. He was a grungy man, not that Serena should've
expected anything less. He pulled off some halk busted glasses and looked up at
her.
"H-hello." Serena said nervously, "My name is Serena Tsukino. I've been assigned
to community service at your place here." she managed to bow politely but kept
one eye half open to watch the guy just in case.
"Yeah, I heard you were coming." the man said, "But I never expected so much of
you to come here, haha!"
"That's rude . . " Serena thought to herself, "I'm gonna guess that wasn't a fat
joke at least."
She stood up straight. "Yeah, I'm pretty big, I know. But respectfully, I'd like
to be on my way as soon as possible. So please tell me what my tasks is today."
"Alright." the man said, "Just past the office here, there's a bunch of old junk
cars, like almost 50 of them, that have been lying around for months. They need
to disposed of so take out the engines, put them in a pile, then compact the
chassie and put them in another pile. And be quick, because in about an hour or
so, we're gonna get a convoy bringing in the wrecks of all the vehicles YOU
destroyed this morning that are gonna have to be taken care of too."
"W-WHAT?!" Serena stammered, "But that's so much work! And I'm not some kind of
hydraulic press you can just put to work."
The man pulled out a piece of paper, "Well, according to this statement from the
mayor, I can! So get to it!"
Serena huffed and looked away somewhat upset. She soon decided it'd be faster
just to get it over with so she walked past the office into the scrapyard.
Behind her, the man relaxed and breathed a sigh of relief. Maybe putting on a
"tough guy" act with this girl wasn't his smartest move considering what she
could've done to him without any protection or enforcement around, but at least
he'd survived this encounter. He hurried inside and out of sight as fast as
possible.
-------------------------
Not far into the yard, Serena found the pile of junk cars piled up high in a
messy heap. She put down her 2-story tall briefcase and picked out her first
car. She blew on it, causing a cloud of dust to fly off of the car. She looked
it over, turning it's front towards her with one hand and using her other hand
to open the hood. Two fingers barely fit inside but Serena quickly ripped the
entire engine out of the car with ease.
Looking around the ground, Serena spotted a large dumpster nearby and dropped
the engine from waist high, making a perfect basket in the container. The car
now even more useless, Serena bent over at the waist, placing the car on the
ground in front of her right foot. After ripping and disposing of another car's
engine, she placed it down in front of her left foot. Standing up straight
again, Serena stepped on the right car with one foot then the left car with her
other foot, crushing both instantly. She gave each car a few strong presses with
her shoes then twisted back and forth before stepping back and digging the
flattened carcases out of the ground with her hands and depositing them in a
pile next to the dumpster. Even on the hard dirt ground, she was able to crush
the cars flatter then any machine ever could.
After crushing sixteen more cars in this fashion, two at a time, Serena noticed
a dust cloud running along the road she had walked down to get to the scrapyard.
Someone was definitely on the way. Serena shrugged, hardly caring about it and
went back to crushing cars. But to her surprise, a familiar red sports car
pulled into the parking lot outside the fence and two people climbed out; a
young man and a certain pink-haired little girl.
Even over the crunching of metal under her shoes, Serena heard the little girl
shout "HEY GIANT MEATBALL HEAD!!!" She halted and looked down. Sure enough,
Rini, dressed in her own school uniform and shiny red shoes, was waving from the
gate with Darien right behind her.
"Ah, hello!" Serena shouted back, forgetting her own voice was already so loud.
Rini jumped in surprise and Darien covered his ears and grimaced. Serena covered
her mouth and turned red with embarassment. "Sorry, I forgot again!"
Darien and Rini worked their way over to Serena and, after Serena blew the dust
off them, sat down on some old tires across from where Serena was working. She
continued to separate engines from cars as she spoke with them.
"So, what brings you two out here?" Serena asked, "It's not exactly on the way
to anything out here."
"Well obviously we came to see you." Darien said.
"That's not true!" Rini interrupted, "I just wanted to see you smash stuff! If I
hadn't been asleep during that fight, I would've let that monster zap me with
whatever it was that made you giant so I could smash everything without wasting
my potions!"
"You little brat!" Serena said angrily, stomping a junk car with more force then
was probably necessary and causing Rini and Darien to bounce again. But then she
paused, a smug look on her face, "And I do mean . . . LITTLE!"
Rini shot a dirty look back. "Just you wait Serena! Next time I'm giant, you'll
be so sorry!"
"Now now ladies!" Darien said nervously, "there's no need to fight each other
here."
Rini huffed and Serena turned back to her pile, or more accurately, the last
vehicle from the pile, and lifted the mangled form of a large city bus off the
ground.
"Anyway," Darien said, "I was hoping after work that you . . . " he paused as
Serena bent over to place the bus on the ground in front of her. From his view,
the sight of Serena towering over and coming closer and closer was surprisingly
intimidating, even though he knew she was no threat to him. But as Serena
blotted out the sun and cast him in her shadow, Darien couldn't help but cower a
little, causing Rini nearby to giggle.
"What's the matter daddy?" she said, "Scared of your future wife?"
Darien was speechless as Serena placed the bus, stood back up, and lifted a foot
over it. The back half of the bus crunched and crushed flat beneath Serena's
black shoe, causing the front half to bend upward in protest, only to be
squashed down flat by Serena's other foot. Finding his throat very much dry now,
Darien cleared his throat as Serena finished off the bus and dropped it onto the
pile of wreckage.
"Sorry about that." Serena said, "It's kinda noisy when I step on these. What
did you say?"
"Uuuuuh, what?" Darien said, lost in awe.
Serena giggled. "You were asking me to do something after work."
"Oh, right!" Darien said, shaking his head, "Um, do you wanna go do something
after work?"
"Wait, are you asking her on a date?" Rini said, "Eww!"
"Ah, I'd love to!" Serena said excitedly, "I'll be sure to finish up as fast as
I can!"
-------------------------
At that moment, the convoy of trucks bearing the wreckage of Serena's morning
rush arrived and moved into the scrapyard. With her newfound energy, Serena
moved quickly to take care of the mess. In some cases, she moved too fast,
trying to pull off piles of cars from trailers before the driver had even
released the chains, resulting the chains being snapped apart in many cases.
The wrecked cars were tied in stacks of three and needed to be compressed as
well. They were to far gone to even bother removing the engine so Serena took
the stacks, ten of them in all, and laid them out in rows. Standing at one end,
she lifted a foot over the first stack.
Stars in her eyes, Rini in particular watched Serena's foot compress the entire
first stack of three cars down into a crushed mess of metal, essentially fusing
the three cars together in a crumpled heap and smashing them into the ground.
The next stack followed suit, crushed under Serena's other foot, then the next
stack, and the next, and the next! With each step, each stack of cars turned
into a colorful and very flat mix of metal colors with the occassional tire
sticking out somewhere but hardly resembling vehicles in any other way anymore.
Serena reached the end of the stacks, turned around, and walked over them a
second time to make sure they were all compressed as flat as possible. She
turned around again and gathered up the flat stacks, walked over to a coveyor
belt and laid them on it one at a time to be fed into an incinerator.
"All done!" Serena said, standing tall and proud, hands on her hips in a kind of
victory pose. "Lets get going!"
-------------------------
Darien and Rini ran back to Darien's car, expecting to drive ahead while Serena
grabbed her briefcase. To their surprise, Serena's free hand suddenly descended
from above and picked up Darien's bright red car and lifted it high into the
air. Soon, Serena's eyes filled the windshield.
"Let me save you some gas!" Serena said, "Where should we go?"
Darien was still a little shaken from the surprise ascent. But Rini, though
still a bit jealous, seemed delighted about the free ride.
"Well, I'm not sure exactly where to go." Darien said, "I can't exactly take you
to a fancy restaurant at your size."
"Not to mention I can't get dressed up for that either." Serena said, "And I'd
eat the place out of house and home."
"And eat all the guests." Rini said, giggling, followed by a scowl from Serena.
"Maybe we should drop the squirt off at home first." Serena said.
"No, I'll behave, I promise!" Rini shouted, doing her best to sit like a proper
lady in the car seat and zipping her mouth shut.
Darien laughed nervously. "Why not just go to the park? It shouldn't be too busy
this late in the day. I may not be able to treat you to a big meal, but I'm sure
we can work something out on the way."
"Sounds great!" Serena said. Briefcase in one hand, Darien's car in the other,
Serena turned and walked back down the dirt road towards the street leading back
to town.
-------------------------
But as Serena neared the intersection where the dirt road met the main road, she
realized she'd forgotten something critical. There ahead, sat the police car
that made sure she did as she was told and would follow her home after work.
"Oh shoot." Serena whispered under her breath. The officer stepped out as Serena
approached.
"All done for the day, Miss Tsukino?" he said. Serena got down on one knee and
leaned over, slipping Darien's car behind her back with one hand.
"Yeah, all done." she said, "I'm heading home for the night."
"Very well." the officer said, "I'll follow to make sure you go straight home
now."
"Oh no, that's ok, you don't have to do that." Serena said nervously, "I
promise, I'll just go right home."
"Sorry maam." the officer said, "Rules are rules. And the rules say that as long
as you are this size, you need to be escorted everywhere you go."
Serena sighed and stood back up. She glared down at the police car, then at the
officer, standing a few feet away. She waited for the officer to tell
headquarters that he'd be escorting her home, then smiled a rather mischievious
smile.
Serena's right foot lifted up high, casting a shadow that prompted the officer
to look up in surprise.
"Sorry about this, sir!" Serena said.
"No no, wait a minute!" the officer shouted.
From behind her back, Darien and Rini heard the crash as Serena stomped her foot
down on the police car. When the dust settled, it revealed only a tiny bit of
the crushed police car sticking out from under Serena's black shoe, and a very
shocked officer sprawled out on the ground a few feet away.
Giving her foot a slight twist for good measure, Serena hopped forward and
jogged down the road as quickly as possible without looking too suspicious to
anyone seeing her. The officer was left without any communication as it had all
been crushed inside the car and had to resort to hickhicking, not an easy task
outside of town. After rounding a few corners, Serena resumed walking at a
normal pace. She brought Darien's car back around in front of her chest.
"Serena?" Darien said, causing Serena to cringe a little, "What did you do?"
"I'll tell you what she did." Rini said, "She just smashed her escort! I'd know
that kind of crash anywhere!"
"Serena!" Darien shouted.
"I'm sorry." Serena said, still walking carefully, "But he wouldn't just let us
go out and have fun. It's not like I hurt him. Plus, everyone now thinks he's
folling me so no one will bother us, assuming we don't cause any trouble. And
I'm tired of rules. I can't believe I'm saying this but, I wanna go back to my
normal size."
"Well, I get the feeling I can't stop you no matter what now." Darien said, "So
lets just have a fun evening and call it a day. As a matter of fact, can you let
me down here for a moment?"
"Oh, sure thing." Serena lowered the car to the ground and let Darien out.
Darien jumped out and ran inside a nearby restaurant. Serena and Rini waited and
waited and waited. Finally, after almost 15 minutes, Darien ran back outside and
jumped back in the car. Serena picked it back up and continued towards the park
again.
"What was that all about?" Serena asked.
"Sorry about the wait." Darien said, "Ordering delivery at that place can take a
long time in situations like this."
"Delivery?" Serena asked, looking down at Darien in the car.
"Serena, watch where your going!" Rini shouted suddenly.
Serena's eyes darted back to the road, just in time to narrowly miss squashing a
skidding car underfoot. Her shoe slammed the ground a mere inch or so away from
the car, causing it to bounce before it tore away from her down the road.
"Be careful Serena!" Rini shouted, "Didn't you notice you are back in town?"
"Sorry, I guess not." Serena said, "If I break anything, everyone will know I'm
out against orders."
"Just pay attention to your surroundings." Darien said, "Be as careful as you
can be."
The park was still a few miles into town. Serena walked carefully and slowly,
even minimizing the impact of her feet in order to cause much less damage to the
road itself, not an easy thing for her at all. She stepped over power lines and
pedestrian bridges, avoided parked cars, and made sure to stop at all red lights
at intersections and wait for her turn to cross.
-------------------------
Finally, after what seemed like forever, Serena made it to the large park in the
downtown area. She turned off the main road and onto the grass.
Serena immediately noticed the soft ground didn't hold up nearly as well and her
foot sank into the ground. Large muddy footprints were left behind as Serena
carefully walked through the park. While she managed to miss most trees, she
still scrunged up bushes and flower gardens underfoot and even wrecked a small
gazebo.
Serena soon reached the large lake in the center of the park. She carefully put
down Darien's car, then put down her briefcase. While Darien and Rini climbed
out, Serena sat down next to the lake, removing her shoes and sock, and actually
dipped her feet into the lake. Though the water barely went over her toes, it
still felt rather nice after a full day on her feet and she let out a relaxed
sigh.
"What a day it's been. This feels nice." she leaned her head back and closed her
eyes, just letting herself be carried off by the calm of the moment.
It was finally quiet, except for the splashing Rini was making in the late
around Serena's feet. Serena opened her eyes again and looked around. It was
just starting to get dark, the lights were just starting to come on around Tokyo
but the park was more secluded and the stars could just barely start to be seen.
About 30 minutes later, Serena heard the horn of a truck. She turned and noticed
a semi truck and a van coming down the small road about 100 feet away from where
she was sitting. Darien jumped up and ran over, talking to the drivers for a few
moments before motioning to Serena. She turned over on her stomach and laid down
on the grass, fully stretched out, her legs now out in the lake and her
shoulders and head nearly right over the street.
"What's all this?" she asked.
"Well, this is dinner!" Darien said, "I know it's not the typical going out to
dinner you might expect but I hope you like it."
The driver tipped his hat. "Just go easy on the trailer please, maam. It's not
easy banging out the dents."
Serena couldn't help but smile a big open smile. "This whole truck is mine?!"
"Yep." Darien said, "Rini and I got our food in the van."
"Wait, how did you pay for all this?" Serena asked.
"Well, don't tell anyone but, I put it all on the city's tab." Darian said,
"Technically, part of the deal was they pay for your meals."
Serena propped herself up on her elbows and picked up the trailer before sitting
up again. She put the trailer to her lips and tipped her head back, letting the
entire contents of the trailer empty into her mouth. Like her lunch deliveries,
it didn't matter if the food was in boxes or packaging, she just ate everything.
Her stomach certainly didn't care.
Serena leaned over and gently put the trailer back down. She even managed to
hardly dent it, which the driver very much appreciated. Darien and Rini had to
catch up, eating as fast as possible.
-------------------------
As it got darker, Serena realized she would have to get back soon. If she was
out too late without anyone knowing where she was, the city would send out
helicopters, the kinds with rockets.
"I should get back to 'home' soon." Serena said, "I don't want the city out
looking for me."
"It's too bad." Darien said, "I wish we could've done more. Maybe tomorrow I'll
come by sooner."
"You two could do more if Serena stopped getting in trouble for wrecking things
just trying to get to school on time." Rini said, a big grin on her face, "You
better not sleep in tomorrow like you did today or they might shot you to wake
you up this time."
"Unfortunately, they just might do that." Serena said, "So I better make sure I
don't get that kind of wake up call." she crouched down one more time, "Darien,
do you mind taking Rini home?"
"No problem at all." Darien said, "We'll catch up tomorrow. But in the meantime,
I'll keep you updated on Amy's progress with figuring out just how long this
effect lasts on you."
"Tell me again why you can't just shrink me?" Serena asked, particularly to
Rini.
"Silly Serena!" Rini said, "You know I only learned growth potions, not
shrinking ones! And even if I did, I'd hardly see a reason to want to go back to
normal after the fun you can have."
"Yeah, I guess you would." Serena said, giving Rini a massive pat on the head
that nearly knocked her down, "Just stay out of trouble tonight."
And with that, Serena parted ways with Rini and Darien. Darien took Rini home
while Serena carefully walked across town to the place she called home.
Officials had lined a large parking lot with a 2 story tall solid fence and
gates to keep everyone else out. It was barely big enough for Serena to lie down
in but she did so anyway.
As the night officially closed in and the sky went dark, Serena starred up at
the stars and wondered when, if ever, she'd be back to normal. She certainly
hoped so. And with the thought of finding out in the morning, Serena finally
dozed off.
